Asphalt Driveways Minneapolis MN

Asphalt Driveway Paving – Minneapolis, St Paul

If you live in the Minneapolis, St. Paul or the surrounding Twin Cities suburbs and need a new driveway, choosing an asphalt driveway may be your best choice. Are you currently experiencing any of these problems with your asphalt or concrete driveway?

  • Severe winter driveway damage
  • Extensive cracking or buckling
  • Low spots, causing puddles
  • Small or large pot-holes
  • Major cracks on a concrete driveway

If you are experiencing one or more of the problems listed above there is a good chance you will need to replace your driveway. It also could mean you have problems with the sub-base under your current driveway. If those problems aren’t corrected, your asphalt or concrete driveway will continue to get worse.

5 Main Advantages of Using Asphalt for Your Driveway

  • Asphalt paving is economical – It can save you 40-60% over concrete.
  • Asphalt driveways are durable and flexible – Ideal for Minnesota winters.
  • Asphalt driveways can last 15-30 years – Proper paving is essential.
  • Asphalt driveways melt snow – Snow & ice melt faster with dark asphalt.
  • Asphalt can be recycled – Old asphalt can become new asphalt, through recycling.

Asphalt Driveways Your driveway says a lot about you and your home. An attractive driveway, one with ‘curb appeal’, adds value to your home and should therefore be looked at as an investment. Beyond sheer monetary value, you’ll take more pride in your home if it has a beautiful, smooth driveway. During the winter months, a smooth blacktop driveway makes snow removal easier, too. In good weather, it can even become a playground for your entire family.

Richfield Blacktop can handle any paving job that you need, whether it is the full replacement of your asphalt or concrete driveway, or any sidewalk or walkways you need replaced or constructed. Since Richfield Blacktop does both concrete and asphalt paving, we can help you create and maintain any paved area on your property.

Is an Asphalt Overlay a Good Choice for Your Driveway?

In some cases it is possible to overlay an existing asphalt driveway with another ‘layer’ of asphalt. This can save money on removing the existing driveway and doing the base work. There are drawbacks, however to overlays. Anywhere there are existing cracks, or broken up asphalt, the damage will ‘reflect’ through the new layer. Drainage also needs to be considered, because when you add an inch and a half layer of asphalt on top of the existing driveway, the new layer could be higher then your garage floor. Although these problems can be solved, most often overlays are not recommended. Before considering an overlay, have your driveway evaluated by one of our asphalt driveway consultants.
